Rice Bran
One of the primary byproducts of the rice milling process is rice bran. During the milling process, the outer brown layer of brown rice is separated.
One hundred kilograms of paddy rice will yield approximately five to ten kilograms of bran. Protein, fat, ash, and crude fiber are all components of rice bran. The presence of small pieces of rice hull in bran frequently raises its ash content. The milling process has a significant impact on the composition of the bran.
Rice bran is rich in nutrients. In addition to proteins, rice bran is a good source of vitamins B and E. Bran also contains anti-oxydants, which are thought to lower cholesterol in humans in small amounts. Bran oil accounts for 10-23% of rice bran. Bran is an excellent binder for animal feeds due to its oily nature.
